The
third ‘Indian Bio-Diversity Congress’ was held during 17th to 20th December 2014 at Chennai.A number of institutions working on the theme of bio diversity conservation, have set-up their stalls in the three days event.
SSM in association with Maharashtra Govt has been running the ‘Maharashtra Gene Bank Project.’ The basic objective of the project is conservation of the traditional/indigenous seed and drive the farmers to use it to onserve the agricultural bio diversity and self sustainability.
In the event more than fifty stalls were presented by different organisations across the country. SSM, along with its sister organisations in the MGB project have participated as a group and presented a stall in the event.
Shri K.Rossaya, The Governor, Tamilnadu had visited the stall and appreciated the work and theme. The stall has been chosen as the best stall and honoured with the first rank. The program was concluded in the auspices of the Shri. Prakash Jawadekar, Environment Minister, Govt. of India.
